THE BRIEF STORY OF QUAN YIN:

Quan Yin (also spelled Guanyin or Kwan Yin) is a beloved goddess in Chinese Buddhism, known as the Goddess of Mercy and Compassion. Her name means “She Who Hears the Cries of the World.” Quan Yin is the Chinese form of the bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara, a being who has reached enlightenment but chooses to stay in the world to help others.

A bodhisattva (a Sanskrit word) is someone on the path to Buddhahood who delays their own liberation to assist others in ending suffering. Quan Yin is especially known for protecting women, children, sailors, and anyone in need of comfort or guidance.

Quan Yin, traditionally, is often depicted with a lotus flower a symbol of spiritual purity. In many cultures across East Asia, she is prayed to for healing, compassion, fertility, and emotional peace. Quan Yin represents unconditional love and divine compassion.
