THE BRIEF STORY OF GODDESS OSHUN:

Oshun is one of the most beloved Orishas—divine spirits—in the Yoruba religion from West Africa, especially Nigeria. She is the goddess of freshwater rivers, love, beauty, fertility, and sensuality. Oshun is often seen as the embodiment of feminine energy and compassion. People call on her for help with relationships, fertility, healing, and abundance.

In Yoruba culture, Oshun is known for her sweet nature but also her fierce power when disrespected. She is associated with gold, honey, mirrors, and the number five. Her sacred color is yellow or gold, and her main river is the Oshun River in Osogbo, Nigeria, where a major festival is held in her honor each year.

The word Orisha refers to a spirit or deity that acts as a messenger and force of nature under the supreme god Olodumare. Oshun’s influence has spread through the African diaspora, especially in Santería (Cuba) and Candomblé (Brazil).
